mysterium

Mysterium is an adventure into the Western musical Christmas tradition. It moves freely from time to time and place to place. Included are, for example, settings to the same text (O magnum mysterium) by the two Renaissance composers (Victoria and Gabrieli) and the 20th-century composers (Poulenc and Lauridsen). Juhani Komulainen’s Herra kanssas olkohon was commissioned for this record, and has ever since remained in the central repertory of the ensemble.
